Finance Ministry provides EGP 4.6bn urgent allocations for supply, railways, health insurance

Minister of Finance Amr El-Garhy approved EGP 4.6bn in urgent allocations for May to the General Authority for Supply Commodities (GASC), Egyptian National Railways, the General Authority for Health Insurance, and the National Media Authority.

The allocations included EGP 4bn for the GASC, which is the value of the financial support for

the goods bought through ration cards, the differences of bread points, and the differences in the costs of manufacturing bread in May.

A $14.8m guarantee has been issued for the purchase of 63,000 tonnes of imported wheat.

The allocations also included EGP 220m for the National Media Authority to meet its mandatory obligations towards workers in May.

In addition, EGP 60.6m was allocated to the General Authority for Health Insurance in May to support female breadwinners, students, and children.

Meanwhile, EGP 125m was allocated to the National Press Authority to complete payments of dues to employees at press institutions and to meet their annual needs.

Furthermore, EGP 98.5m was allocated to Cotton and Textile Industries Holding Company, in order to provide the necessary liquidity for employees’ payment dues for May.

Moreover, the allocations included EGP 63.1m to the Egyptian National Railways, to support students’ April subscriptions.

Meanwhile, EGP 4.5m was allocated to support school, university, and higher institute students’ metro subscriptions for April.

Also, EGP 4.3m was allocated to the employees of the three irrigation companies of the Holding Company for Water and Wastewater (HCWW) for May.

Moreover, EGP 2.6m was allocated to the Supreme Council of Culture to pay May’s employee salaries for Misr Company for Sound and Light.
