Manufacturing, extractive index decrease by 2.6% during February 2019

The manufacturing and extractive industries index (excluding crude oil and petroleum products) is 122.30 during February 2019 compared to 125.58 during January 2019, a decrease of 2.6%.

The Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) issued the data of the production index of manufacturing and extractive industries for February 2019.

It noted that the manufacture printing and reproduction of recorded media reached 167.81 in February 2019 compared to January 2019, where it reached 149.28, an increase of 12.4%, due to the increase in publications.

It added the manufacture of computers, electronics, and optical products reached to 151.74 in February 2019 compared to January 2019, which reached 84.28, an increase of 80%, due to the increased sales of photocopiers and signed contracts.

Meanwhile, the manufacture of food products reached 84.30 in February 2019 compared to January 2019, where it reached 91.75, a decrease of 8.1%. due to the low quantity of ground wheat.

The CAPMAS stated that the manufacture of other non-metallic mineral products reached 69.50 during the month of February 2019 compared to January 2019, reaching 91.20, a decrease of 23.8% due to the low supply of contracts and market conditions.
