Egypt’s Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy and the Elsewedy Electric for Trading and Distribution have signed a set of contracts worth a total of EGP 846m to implement a new transformer station.

The contracts will see the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC) construct the Toshka 4 transformer station of the gas-isolated type, under the turnkey system, at a value of EGP 410m.

The project will be implemented within 10 months from the date of notification of the tender’s acceptance.

The two sides also signed an EGP 148m contract for the implementation of an antenna project to connect the Toshka 4 transformer station, by opening the Al-Owainat / Toshka 2 electrical line at the station.

The contracts include the implementation of a project to construct a transformer station in West Port Said, under the turnkey system, at a value of EGP 288m, which will be delivered within a year.

The total contracts signed by the Elsewedy Electric since the beginning of the year has now reached nearly EGP 3bn. The last contract it signed, valued at EGP 355.5m, took place last month, and relates to the construction of an electrical transformer station in Sadat City.

It is noteworthy that El Sewedy Electric Company is the leading company in the implementation of high voltage lines. It has constructed more than 1,000 km of lines (220 kV – 500 kV) inside Egypt and Africa, in addition to establishing many transformer stations (220 kV – 500 kV).
