Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi participated via video conference, on Wednesday, in the second international conference in support of Lebanon, organised by France and the UN.

A number of heads of state and government representatives participated in the international conference, which aims to mobilise support for Lebanon. The country is facing the political, economic, and humanitarian consequences and repercussions of the Beirut port explosion, which occurred in early August.

During his speech before the conference, President Al-Sisi said that the conference represents a new message of support for Lebanon from friendly countries, and affirms the desire for joint action to support the crisis-stricken country.

He also said that Egypt had taken the initiative to provide all forms of aid and assistance to Lebanon, through air and sea bridges, to transport huge amounts of humanitarian and food aid. This has gone towards compensating Lebanon for the losses it incurred from its strategic stockpile, due to the effects of the explosion.

Moreover, the Egyptian field hospital in Beirut provides daily medical services to Lebanese civilians, and has received over 80,000 cases since its opening.

The Egyptian President also called on all Lebanese leaders to uphold the country’s national interest, settle their differences, and accelerate efforts to form an independent government.
