Egypt participates in 3rd edition of Italy-Africa Conference

Egypt has  participated in the third edition of the Italy-Africa Conference, entitled “Encounters with Africa”, which was held in Rome.

The Egyptian delegation to the event was headed by Hamdy Loza, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, with the participation of Hisham Badr, Egypt’s Ambassador to Italy.

Italian President Sergio Mattarella inaugurated the conference with the participation of 32 ministers and deputy ministers from various African countries, and representatives of a number of international and regional organizations.

The conference has witnessed the participation of leaders of major Italian companies investing in Africa, and representatives of European and international funding bodies.

In his speech during the conference, Loza reviewed the most important elements of the integrated and sustainable energy strategy in Egypt until 2035, in addition to the legislative and regulatory framework for new and renewable energy projects.

He pointed out that this strategy stimulated the private sector to participate in the construction of the Benban solar power plant near Aswan and other projects.

Ambassador Loza also indicated Egypt’s keenness to host the Climate Change Conference (COP 27) next year, In addition to the interest in developing Arab, African and European electrical interconnection projects. Egypt is keen also to strengthen cooperation with African countries in the field of training through the distinguished programmes provided by the Egyptian centres in this regard.
