A military cargo plane took off on Monday from East Cairo Air Base bound for Juba International Airport in South Sudan, carrying large quantities of medical and humanitarian aid — in cooperation with the Egyptian Red Crescent Society — to help ease the burden on citizens in South Sudan.

The military spokesperson said that this assistance comes in implementation of the directives of President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi within the framework of the continuation of Egyptian support and solidarity with South Sudan in various crises.

It also confirms the depth of the historical ties and relations between Egypt and South Sudan and stems from Egypt’s leading role towards African countries in times of adversity and crisis.
