Egypt’s Al-Sisi, Qatar’s Emir Tamim sign 3 MoUs

President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi and Emir of the State of Qatar Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the Sovereign Fund of Egypt for Investments and Development and the Qatar Investment Authority in the field of social affairs.

They also oversaw a signing between the Ministry of Social Solidarity and the Qatari Ministry of Social Development and another MoU on cooperation in the ports between Egypt and Qatar.

This came during Al-Sisi’s meeting at the Amiri Diwan in the Qatari capital with the Emir in which they held individual talks, followed by an expanded negotiation session that included the two countries’ delegations.

The president expressed his appreciation and gratitude to the Qatari emir for the warm reception and hospitality, appreciating the recent visit of his highness to Cairo last June, which reflected the strengthening of relations between the two countries.

He also stressed Egypt’s openness towards deepening bilateral relations with Qatar at all levels and pushing them to new horizons.

For his part, Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani praised the brotherly ties between the two countries and expressed his appreciation for Egyptian efforts in support of Arab and Gulf affairs at all levels.

He also emphasised Qatar’s keenness to strengthen bilateral cooperation frameworks between the two sides in various fields by increasing Qatari investments in Egypt and exploiting the investment opportunities available there.

Additionally, he praised the prominent Egyptian role in strengthening the mechanisms of joint Arab action in facing the current crises and challenges in the region, which is a model to be followed in maintaining stability and advancing the developmental, economic, and social conditions in the Arab world.

The meeting witnessed a discussion of ways of enhancing bilateral cooperation between the two brotherly countries and maximising trade and economic and investment relations, which would positively advance the bilateral relations between the two sides on various tracks.

The two leaders also exchanged visions on developments in the Arab world and international issues of common interest.

Moreover, they agreed on the importance of strengthening coordination between the two countries for a sustainable political settlement of the region’s crises as an essential part of maintaining regional security and stability.
