One of Egypt’s biggest football clubs, Al-Ahly sent a letter to the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) on Wednesday, apologising for its withdrawal from the Egyptian Cup.

Al-Ahly published the letter on its official website on Wednesday. The club’s reason for withdrawing from the competition is due to a conflict with the EFA over the marketing rights for the competition. The letter to the EFA outlined that Al-Ahly felt there was “a lack of clarity on the financial return for the clubs participating in the tournament”. The club also pointed out that no clear date had been set for the start of the competition.
