The recently discovered Chinese graffiti in Luxor Temple has been cleaned up and fully removed, according to Reuters.
The graffiti was only recently discovered after a blogger posted a photograph online.
Soon after the picture went viral, the family of the 15-year-old boy responsible for the vandalism issued an apology to the Egyptian people about what their son had done.
The family said that the graffiti was scratched into the wall years ago when they were visiting Egypt, according to Reuters.
Very little has been said about the matter by Egyptian authorities.
Hisham Shattoury, secretary general of the Tourist Guides Syndicate, said that he was in Luxor last week, but did not see the graffiti nor was he or other tour guides aware of it.
Shattoury said that any vandalism or similar incidence should be reported and all tourist guides informed immediately.
