Pro-Morsi demonstrators and local residents clashed in Suez Wednesday night after protesters on Geish street called for the “return of legitimacy” while residents opposed the demonstrations.

The Ministry of Health announced the death of one person during the clashes. According to Aswat Masriya, the head of the emergency unit in Suez hospital confirmed the young man died of a gunshot wound to the head.

The victim, Abdallah Mohamed Ateya, 16, was a senior high school student.

This is the third day of turbulence in Suez after residents around Geish street attempt to break off the Pro-Morsi protest and chant against the demonstrators. Both sides threw rocks, followed by an exchange of gunfire.

The head of the medical emergency unit, Modather Mohamed, had earlier announced all units are now on emergency alert, having canceled leave for all personnel until after 6 October, when additional protests are expected.
