Minister of International Cooperation Naglaa Al-Ahwani has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with World Bank Vice President for the Middle East and North Africa Hafez Ghanem.

The MoU will see the prolonging of cooperation with the Marseille Center for Mediterranean Integration (CMI), the Ministry announced.

The signing took place on the sidelines of the spring meetings of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund, taking place in Washington DC from 17-19 April.

This comes as Egypt’s third extension of the agreement, prolonging the period of cooperation from 2015 to 2018. The agreement aims to strengthen developmental cooperation between member countries in various areas, including human development, economic integration, sustainable development, the environment and climate change.

The centre wasestablished in 2009, with its main partners being the European Investment Bank (EIB), the World Bank, the French Agency for Development (AFD), and the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM), amongst others.

Member countries of the centre include France, Lebanon, Morocco, Tunisia, Italy, Palestine, Jordan and others.
