In a bid to offer cost-effective and reliable broadband services to its customers, Mobinil has launched a modern packet core network in cooperation with Ericsson.

The launching of the network comes as a part of a five-year framework agreement between the two companies, originally conceived in August 2014.

Modernising Mobinil’s mobile packet core comes in time to cater to increasing demand for mobile-broadband services, especially as approximately half of Egypt’s population is under the age of 35.

“It is our commitment to ensure that our customers benefit from the highest quality and experience,” said Mobinil CEO Yves Gautier, commenting on the launch.

Gautier added: “Ericsson is our partner in providing the best customer experience.”

Moreover, Mobinil CTO, Yasser Shaker said: “This latest upgrade of our packer core network is an anticipatory move in light of our expanding customer base and its long-term sustainability. Our continuous investment in our infrastructure is a testament to our continued commitment to our customers.”

“We aim to provide our customers with the highest-quality services at high speeds throughout Egypt, and that’s why we’ve chosen Ericsson to be our partner,” Shaker added.

Ericsson Regional Middle East and Africa’s President, Rafiah Ibrahim, commented on the launch, saying: “By transforming Mobinil’s packet core technology, we are supporting an increasingly networked society in Egypt. We believe this will enable Mobinil to provide their customers with improved network speeds and delivery services.”

“Our partnership with Mobinil has allowed the operator to evolve its network, and continue to provide users with innovative products and services of superior quality,” Ibrahim added.
