Growing up as a child who dreams of becoming a fashion designer means a keen eye for everything and anything happening in major fashion capitals. For years, London has attracted the attention of all established and aspiring fashion experts in Egypt.

Next week, Cairo, along with many other cities around the world, is set to direct its attention towards the iconic British Fashion Awards (BFA). The British Fashion Council (BFC) has finally announced a new season of the significant awards, plus a list of the renowned nominees. For the second year in a row, BFC join hands with Swarovski to present yet another spectacular night.

The highly-anticipated night is expected to crown a year of British masterpieces and recognise the industry’s masterminds. The 2015 awards will be hosted by British comedian and actor Jack Whitehall at the London Coliseum on 23 November.

Meanwhile, Swarovski will once again shower the awards with crystals. The official partner will create bespoke awards for the ceremony; the “British Fashion Awards Crystal Trophy by Swarovski”.

“We are incredibly excited about this year’s British Fashion Awards, and delighted to be working in partnership once again with Swarovski. This annual event is fast becoming one of the highlights of the global fashion calendar. The awards recognise the incredible talent we are so fortunate to work with and celebrates the excellence and creativity within our industry both at home and abroad. I cannot wait for Monday 23 November – it is the fashion night of the year,” said Natalie Massenet MBE, Chairman of the BFC.

Walking the same line, Nadja Swarovski, Member of the Swarovski Executive Board, added: “It is a pleasure to partner with the British Fashion Council for a second successive year to support the British Fashion Awards. This exciting event celebrates the best of the UK’s thriving fashion scene and the inspiring, forward-thinking talents that work within it.”

Over 800 influential industry figures have gathered this year to create BFC’s international judging panel, which will be choosing the exceptional winners. The categories include emerging womenswear designer, emerging menswear designer, emerging accessory designer, new establishment designer, establishment designer, womenswear designer, menswear designer, accessory designer, red carpet, brand and model.

With that being said, the night’s key award, BFC Outstanding Achievement, will be going to the one and only Karl Lagerfeld for his life-time achievements.  Lagerfeld’s outstanding career has reshaped the international scene many times. Over the course of 50 years, the designer managed to establish a formidable force that navigates the industry.

Even though Lagerfeld has occupied few key positions at different fashion houses such as Chloé and Fendi, his work for Chanel remains the most recognised worldwide.

“Karl Lagerfeld defines outstanding. He is the champion of excellence, the master of the exceptional and one of the most iconic figures globally from our industry. His life’s work for his own and so many extraordinary brands has written the language of fashion. He is the ultimate visionary and we celebrate not only the decades already passed but those yet to happen. In Karl’s hands the future of fashion will be an exceptional one,” said Massenet.

Moreover, the night is set to also include three more fundamental awards – British Style, International Designer and the Isabella Blow Award for Fashion Creator.

Last year’s red-carpet witnessed over 400 VIPs and industry heavyweights, while the auditorium hosted 2,000 top-notch guests. The attendees included Alexa Chung, Cara Delevingne, David Beckham, Emma Watson, John Galliano, Kate Moss, Lana del Rey, Lewis Hamilton, Naomi Campbell, Nicolas Ghesquière, Rihanna, Samantha Cameron, Tom Ford, Victoria Beckham and Anna Wintour, who walked away with the BFC Outstanding Achievement Award.

The ceremony is also sponsored by few extra entities, such as MAC as well as Toni&Guy, Marks & Spencer, Mercedes Benz, and St. Martins Lane Hotel.
