Shoukry, Korean officials discuss economic collaboration in various fields

Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shoukry discussed Monday ways to reinforce Egyptian-Korean relations during his meeting with the chairwoman of the committee of foreign relations in the South Korean Parliament, Kyung Won Na.

Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shoukry discussed Monday ways to reinforce Egyptian-Korean relations during his meeting with the chairwoman of the committee of foreign relations in the South Korean Parliament, Kyung Won Na.

Shoukry’s visit to South Korea started Sunday.

The Foreign Ministry’s spokesperson Ahmed Abou Zaid affirmed in a statement Egypt’s commitment to boost relations with South Korea, including through parliamentary collaboration.

Shoukry also expressed Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi’s wishes to visit South Korea as soon as possible to further develop economic collaboration and benefit from Korea’s experience in technology, especially in communication and information technology.

Kyung Won Na congratulated Shoukry on the parliamentary elections and they discussed the current affairs in the Middle East and Egypt’s role in fighting terrorism.

Shoukry also met deputy head of the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) to discuss the development of its projects in Egypt. KOICA is working on 20 projects in various fields, including electricity and information technology.

They also discussed the establishment of the Egyptian-Korean technology college.
