The National Bank of Egypt (NBE) decided to extend the working hours at 59 of its branches to collect tax payments. No other banking services will be provided outside of regular opening hours.

These branches will remain open until 5pm in the period from 27 to 31 March and from 24 to 28 April

When selecting the branches, the bank took into account covering all geographic regions of the country as well as being close to the tax authority, the NBE said in a statement.

The bank added that this step comes to affirm the role the bank plays in serving the national economy, and to support the Egyptian Tax Authority in collecting its dues during both peak periods for providing tax declarations in March and April of every year.

In a similar move, Banque Misr decided to extend the working hours at 60 branches to provide electronic tax payment services until 7 pm during the period from 23 to 31 March, and from 24 to 28 April.

Banque Misr also decided to open a number of its branches, including on Talaat Harb Street and in Alexandria on the weekends coinciding with 25 and 26 March and 29 and 30 April, from 2pm until 7pm.
