23.1% increase in value of financial investments for banks: CAPMAS

The Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) issued on Thursday its annual bulletin of statistics and financial indicators for banks, insurance, currency exchange, and brokerage companies for fiscal year (YR) 2014/2015.

According to the bulletin, the total financial position of the banks reached EGP 2199bn in FY 2014/2015 compared to EGP 1816.9bn in FY 2013/2014, marking an increase of 21%.

The bulletin also noted that deposits and current accounts value reached EGP 1734.2bn in FY 2014/2015 compared to EGP 1429.4bn in FY 2013/2014, marking an increase of 21.3%.

The value of financial investments reached EGP 1016bn in FY 2014/2015 compared to EGP 825.5bn in FY 2013/2014, an increase of 23.1%. The value of cash balances reached EGP 321.8bn in FY 2014/2015 compared to EGP 279.6bn in FY 2013/2014, an increase of 15.1%.

With regard to public and private insurance companies, the total financial position of insurance companies reached EGP 59.9bn in FY 2014/2015 compared to EGP 55bn in FY 2013/2014, an increase of 8.8%.

The report stated that the value of these companies’ investments reached EGP 52.5bn in FY 2014/2015 compared to EGP 48.6bn in FY 2013/2014, an increase of 8%. The value of net premiums reached EGP 11.7bn in FY 2014/2015 compared to EGP 9.9bn in FY 2013/2014, an increase of 17.6%.

According to CAPMAS, the value of Net Compensations reached EGP 6.5bn in FY 2014/2015 compared to EGP 5.6bn in FY 2013/2014, an increase of 16.1%.

With regards to exchange bureaus, the total financial position of the companies reached EGP 775.3m in FY 2014/2015 compared to EGP 767m in FY 2013/2014, an increase of 1.1%.

The value of paid-in capital reached EGP 649.8 in FY 2014/2015 compared to EGP 642.5m in FY 2013/2014, an increase of 1.1%. The cash value reached EGP 435.3m in FY 2014/2015 compared to EGP 478.7m in FY 2013/2014, a decrease of 9.1%.

The total financial position of the brokerage companies reached EGP 8.3bn in FY 2014/2015 compared to EGP 6.8bn in FY 2013/2014, an increase of 22.4%.

The value of paid-in capital reached EGP 2.84bn in FY 2014/2015 compared to EGP 2.8bn in FY 2013/2014, an increase of 1.4%.

The value of the financial investments reached EGP 775.4m in FY 2014/2015 compared to EGP 715.9m in FY 2013/2014, an increase of 8.3%.
