Vodafone to provide free Wi-Fi for students at Cairo University

Vodafone Egypt signed an agreement with Cairo University on Monday to provide wireless internet services (Wi-Fi) on campus. The company will launch the services at the Faculty of Engineering and gradually expand to other faculties.

The agreement was signed by the university’s dean Gaber Nassar and strategy director of Vodafone Emad El-Azhary.

Vodafone Egypt is the largest mobile network operator in Egypt, in terms of number of subscriber, with 38.9 million users recorded at the end of February. Telecom Egypt owns 45% of Vodafone Egypt’s shares.

Some 169,800 students are enrolled in Cairo University’s various faculties. Moreover, 12,900 faculty members, including professors and assistants, teach at the university, in addition to 35,800 post-graduate students.
