Presidential decree to review legal status of Endowments Authority assets

President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi issued a decree to form an ad-hoc committee to review the belongings of the Egyptian Endowments Authority.

The committee will be headed by former Prime Minister Ibrahim Mehleb, who currently works as a consultant for Al-Sisi, and consist of the Minister of Religious Endowments, the head of the Egyptian Endowments Authority, a representative from the Ministry of Investment, a representative from the Armed Forces Engineering Authority, and a representative from the Administrative Prosecution.

The committee will review the legal status of assets and belongings of companies, houses, lands, and projects for the religious endowments authority. It will also study how these assets can be returned to the government, after preparing a report on the reasons that enabled their seizure.

Afterwards, the committee will send the final report and its recommendations directly to the president.
