68 corruption incidents occurred in April: PFT

Partners For Transparency (PFT) indicated in its monthly report that media outlets revealed the occurrence of 68 corruption incidents in Egypt during April, according to PFT’s statement.

The governorate of Cairo remained on top of the list regarding corruption incidents, with 19 incidents in April, followed by Beheira with 6 incidents, Alexandria with 6 incidents, and Minya with 4 incidents.

The number of corruption incidents in the Ministry of Supply witnessed a decline to 12 incidents from last month’s 16 incidents.

The report also tracked the status of the corruption cases of April in the judiciary, which indicated that 75% of incidents were investigated, 16% were pending trials, and 6% received verdicts, while 3% were not investigated.

According to the PFT, the Administrative Supervision Authority tracked the execution of the Ministerial Committee for Investment Disputes Resolution’s decisions, which indicated the absence of integration between the state institutions in configuring an appropriate atmosphere for investment.

According to the PFT, a total of 968 corruption incidents took place in Egypt in 2016.

The report is the 22nd to be published by the PFT, which documents corruption cases in governmental institutions through circulated information in different media outlets.
