The Egypt Post announced the suspension of all postal services to Qatar starting Tuesday, after the Egyptian government decided to sever its diplomatic ties with Qatar.

Egypt announced its reason for cutting for cutting diplomatic ties with Qatar was due to its support of terrorist organisations and inciting division in the region, according to a statement issued Monday by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Qatari ambassador to Cairo was asked to leave the country within 48 hours, and the Egyptian chargé d’affaires in Doha was also informed to return to the country within 48 hours. Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and Bahrain have also cut their diplomatic relations with Qatar.

Egypt’s Foreign Ministry supported its reasoning by claiming that Qatar showed, “persistence in adopting a stance against Egypt,” supporting the Muslim Brotherhood (MB) group, lodging MB leaders, targeting Egypt’s security, promoting Al-Qaeda’s and the Islamic State’s (IS) ideology, and interfering in Egypt’s and other Arab countries’ internal affairs.

The ministry announced the shutdown of all ports of entry for Qatari means of transport. It further explained in the statement that Egypt is working on the required procedures to inform neighbouring countries and companies about the process of their transport from Egypt to Qatar.
