An official at Telecom Egypt said that the company signed local roaming agreement with a single company in Egypt, Etisalat, next to a memorandum of understanding in principle with Orange. He pointed out that it is possible for TE to offer its services through one network.

The source added that the company is currently building its own network so that it does not have to operate virtually for a long time in order to ensure expanding using its own infrastructure.

The National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (NTRA) has re-allocated fourth-generation frequencies to mobile operators after the three mobile operators refused the terms of the license at the end of September 2016 and re-negotiated with the Ministry of Communications.

After the frequency allocation, Vodafone was granted 5 MegaHZ only for $335m, while Etisalat obtained 10 Megahertz for $535.5m and Orange another 10 Megahertz for a price of $484m.

TE acquired the 4G license for EGP 5.5bn and 15 MHz in bandwidth, in addition for EGP 2.2bn for the license itself, leaving the price of bands at $626.4m and a MHz price of $41.7m.
