Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs will head to Indian capital Delhi on Wednesday to chair an Egyptian delegation during the meetings of seventh session of the joint committee between Egypt and India, according to a statement by ministry spokesperson Ahmed Abou Zaid.

Meeting of the committee are scheduled to start on Thursday at the level of senior officials, and then at the ministerial level on 23 March.

During his visit, Sameh Shoukry will meet with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to deliver a letter from President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi concerning ways to strengthen bilateral relations.

The visit comes within the framework of the historical ties between the two countries and Egypt’s keenness to develop cooperation with India in all fields, as reflected in the visits and meetings between the Egyptian president and the Indian prime minister since 2015, as well as joint coordination between the two countries in international forums, Abou Zaid said.

Egyptian-Indian relations have witnessed a remarkable development in trade and investment between them during the past several years. They further witnessed significant development in political, economic, scientific, and cultural spheres. In addition, both sides showed eagerness to strengthen bilateral relations through intensifying senior-level visits, according to a previous report released by the State Information Service about relations between the two countries.
