A hepatitis C virus detection medical convoy organised by the Tahya Misr Fund went to Qurna village in Luxor, accompanied by the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Ahmed Al-Tayeb.

The medical survey was part of Tahya Misr dedicating a week in the governorate of Luxor to follow up on the programme of reconstruction of underprivileged villages and raising awareness of the fund’s activities.

The convoy’s medical team examined 1,500 villagers for the hepatitis C virus.

In efforts to battle the virus, Tahya Misr Fund contributed to curing more than 160,000 patients and established a hepatitis C prevention centre in the governorate for its underprivileged citizens as well as those from neighbouring governorates.

The fund sponsored several medical survey initiatives for curing 1 million hepatitis C virus patients since August 2007. Also, the fund conducted a medical survey among students in 24 universities.
