1.5% increase in inflation rate in April: CAPMAS

The Central Agency for Public Mobilisation and Statistics (CAPMAS) announced in its monthly bulletin that the inflation rate in Egypt increased by 1.5% in April compared to March, reaching 273.9 points.

According to the CAPMAS’s monthly bulletin, the annual inflation rate in Egypt amounted to 12.9% last month, compared to 32.9% in April 2017.

The CAPMAS’s bulletin stated that the price of food and drinks in Egypt increased in April by 2.4% compared to March.

Meanwhile, the bulletin pointed out that the price of food and drinks in Egypt increased by 10.8% year-over-year.

The bulletin explained that the inflation rate in Egypt’s urban areas in February fell by 0.3% compared to January, recording 258 points compared to 258.6 points.

The CAPMAS is the official statistical agency of Egypt that collects, processes, analyses, disseminates statistical data, and conducts the country’s census.
