SMEDA, e-finance cooperate to develop small projects platform

Beta version well-received by concerned bodies, including CBE, says Gamea

Neven Gamea, CEO of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA) signed an agreement with e-finance chairperson, Ibrahim Sarhan, to cooperate in developing a platform for small projects.

This agreement comes within the framework of initiatives undertaken by the SMEDA to develop MSMEs.

The platform is an interactive website developed by the SMEDA to provide all information, services and initiatives provided by government agencies, non-governmental organizations, and the private sector to small entrepreneurs and start-ups.

The platform provides all the data and information needed to start or develop projects in a simplified manner. It also includes all the financing, training, technical and marketing services provided by various stakeholders in the small and micro enterprises sector. The services will be made available electronically through the platform.

According to Gamea, the beta version was well received by concerned bodies, including the Central Bank of Egypt, given its range of services, such as preparing work plans, feasibility studies, financing tools, and marketing, administrative, and managerial services.

She noted that the platform will also provide specialised technological and technical services in all economic sectors and value chains associated with each sector.

According to Sarhan, the company will add new services to support MSMEs and help them develop through subpages of banking and non-banking entities through an electronic market. It will also show the new investment opportunities for the public and private sector that could benefit MSMEs. They will also launch an application to ensure easy access to information.

Sarhan added that the company’s technological infrastructure is secured according to the latest international measurements and certificates and is encoded according to Egyptian national security standards. This structure is what enabled the company to be the main pillar on which the Egyptian government depends on executing major national projects.
