Egypt’s exports to Russia $402m during H1 2018: Nassar

Egyptian exports to Russia increased by 11.5% during the first half (H1) of this year, according to the latest report received by the Minister of Trade and Industry Amr Nassar, on the development of Egyptian exports to Russia during the first six months of 2018.

The ministry elaborated further in a press statement on Sunday that the value of exports amounted to $402.4m in H1 2018, up from $360.6m during the same period last year.

The industrial and agricultural sectors contributed the most towards exports, according to the report received by the ministry.

The report elaborated further that exports of home appliances increased by 224% in H1 2018, reaching $14.66m, compared to $4.53m during the same period last year.

Meanwhile, the ministry stated that detergent and soap exports jumped 147% year-over-year, reaching $3.7m, up from $1.5m in the H1 2017.

The report showed further that Egyptian-made carpets, home furniture and food products, also witnessed a jump in the H1 2018.

It elaborated further that exports of frozen strawberries came at the forefront of the food products imported by Russia, after increasing by 142%, registering at $13.26m in the first six months of 2018, up from $5.47m in the same period of 2017.

Notably, the ministry previously announced that Egypt’s non-petroleum exports increased by 14.3%, recording $14.89bn during the first seven months of 2018, up from $13.25bn in the same period of 2017.
