Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi discussed with Yemeni President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi, the UN’s efforts to end the war in Yemen, according to a statement from the presidency’s spokesperson, Bassam Rady.

This came during a phone call by Al-Sisi late Wednesday with his Yemeni counterpart, to review the updates of the UN-sponsored peace talks, currently taking place among all parties in Yemen.

The UN is sponsoring efforts to end the nearly four-year-old conflict in Yemen, under a peace plan calling for a ceasefire between the Saudi-led coalition and the Iranian-backed Houthis, as well as the establishment of a transitional government agreement.

During the call, the two leaders agreed on the need to solve the Yemeni crisis, and to continue their future coordination, as well as to offer support and humanitarian assistance to Yemen.

President Al-Sisi asserted Egypt’s commitment to support the political solution in Yemen, as a matter of seeking to preserve Yemen’s unity and stability, in addition to its legitimate government.
