Petroleum Minister says oil production need to increase

Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tarek El-Molla said crude oil need to increase, as well as safety and health measures upgrade.

The minister’s directives came during a meeting with heads of companies operating in oil and gas production on Tuesday.

The Minister directed the heads of companies to follow up the implementation of work programmes at production sites through intensive inspection to identify variables surrounding the work process, and to implement new atypical ideas to improve production and take advantage of promising opportunities in pursuit of distinguished results. This is meant to increase Egypt’s production of crude oil, similar to what was achieved in the production of natural gas.

He reviewed the position of crude oil production plans during the period from July 2019 to January 2020, and the targeted work programmes during the coming period to  increase the production of crude oil, and the position of implementing the current plan to review and update all aspects of occupational safety and health (OSH) and preserve the environment at production sites.

El-Molla stressed the importance of commitment  to improv crude oil productivity by intensifying exploration and development work, drilling wells, and placing them on map of crude oil production.

He also called for constantly examining the challenges that may face  work conditions to develop quick solutions to overcome these challenges, in coordination with the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation, foreign partners, and the ministry.
