Egyptair is to resume internal flights between Sharm EL-Shiekh and Luxor airports starting from 20 February, according to a statement by the Ministry of Antiquities and Tourism.

The ministry stated on Tuesday that the decision comes under the government’s policy of linking beach tourism from the Red Sea to cultural tourism areas in Upper Egypt. The flights resumption comes under the cooperation of the Ministries of Aviation, Antiquities, and Tourism.

The flights are planned to take place once a week. The ministry stated that it will offer the passengers of the first flight a free ticket to Nefertari’s tomb in the West Bank of Luxor, which usually costs EGP 1400.

Chairperson and CEO of Egyptair Holding Ahmed Adel told local media portals that the flight rate might increase to more than planned due to high demand, stating that the flight is scheduled until the end of May.

The flight is scheduled to take off every Thursday on an A220-300 luxurious cabin.

Bassem Abdelkarim, Ministry of Civil Aviation’s spokesperson, said that the ministry is currently planning to start flights between Luxor and Hurghada airports in the near future.
