Shoukry on Arab tour, current stop in Bahrain

Egypt’s Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry arrived on Wednesday in Manama, Bahrain, to hand over a message from President Abdel Fatah Al-Sisi to King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, according to a statement from the ministry.

Shoukry visited Jordan, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the UAE, and Oman as part of his current Arab tour. According to statements of the foreign ministry, Shoukry was assigned to hand over letters from President Al-Sisi to his counterparts in these Arab countries.

On Tuesday, Omani Foreign Minister Yusuf bin Alawi bin Abdullah received Shoukry upon his arrival.

The Egyptian minister explained his country’s stance on the latest developments of the ongoing negotiations on the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD).

He also expressed Egypt’s appreciation to the stance of the Arab nations in the recent ministerial meeting of the Arab League in which they supported an Arab decision siding with Egypt in the issue of GERD.

The minister also expressed the Egyptian government’s and people’s appreciation to the Arab leaders for their support in this regard.
