Shuaa General Services, which is responsible for reading electricity meters in Egypt, took precautionary and preventive measures against the novel coronavirus for its workers while taking meter readings.

Mohamed Saad, the company president, told Daily News Egypt that Shuaa will provide its employees with gloves, disinfectants, and wipes for use during their work, stressing that the company will not lay off workers since no bills can be issued with meter reading.

He explained that the company is operating in full capacity and was not affected by the coronavirus, but the company will be subject to disinfection measures on a weekly basis.

He said there are some proposals that the company will study in the event the situation got worse in the country, including the use of the company’s smart reader app, where consumers take a clear photo of their meter reading and send it through the app.
