Borje Ekholm, President and CEO of Ericsson, has said in a time of crisis, information and communication are critical. He added: “Mobile networks are an essential part of the communications backbone that enables health workers, public safety officials and critical businesses to stay connected during this global crisis.”

Mobile networks also provide new opportunities by making work from home viable amid coronavirus pandemic, he continued.

In a press statement, he pointed to the unprecedented challenges the world currently faces with the spread of coronavirus and its great impact on people’s lives, which casts a shadow on the global economy and global companies in all fields.

He stressed that Ericsson has taken all preventive measures to face the repercussions of this crisis to ensure the safety of its employees and partners around the world.

“As of today, all of Ericsson’s production sites are up and running. This means that the short-term impact of the coronavirus on our supply chain has been limited to none.”

He explained that Ericsson has a resilient supply chain, with production capabilities in multiple regions. “We also have access to components and other materials to keep production up and running. But naturally, the shutdown of countries runs the risk of impacting our logistics chains,” he concluded.
