BP Egypt confirmed, on Tuesday, it has completed a successful production flow test at the offshore Bashrush shallow water gas discovery. The multinational oil and gas company is a partner in the newly discovered Bashrush discovery, alongside Italy’s Eni and France’s Total.

The test was the latest activity in the ongoing appraisal programme at the Bashrush discovery, located in the Nile Delta’s North El Hammad concession area. The well test delivered up to 32 MMscf of gas, with a production estimate of up to 100 MMscf of gas and 800 barrels of condensate per day.

Karim Alaa, BP’s Senior Vice President for North Africa, said, “This is a strong result for the Bashrush discovery, indicating that commercially viable flow rates can be achieved from the reservoir and the potential for fast-tracked development through a tie-in with existing infrastructure.”

Along with the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS), BP holds 37.5% of the contractor’s share, Eni holds 37.5% as the operator through its affiliate, the Italian Egyptian Oil Company (IEOC), and Total holds the contractor’s share of 25%.
