Religious Endowments Ministry forms committee to manage COVID-19 crisis

Egypt’s Ministry of Religious Endowments announced, on Thursday, the formation of a Crisis Management Committee headed by Sheikh Jaber Tayea, head of the ministry’s religious sector.

The committee aims to take measures it deems appropriate in the event of any violation at mosques of precautionary measures set out against the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

In a statement, the ministry said that the head of any directorate in Egypt’s governorates will be allowed to take the decision to close any mosque after taking the committee’s approval.

The closed mosque will be reopened upon the committee’s approval and after meeting the precautionary measures, even if it was closed before the committee’s formation.

The Ministry of Religious Endowments highlighted its commitment to the precautionary measures against the COVID-19 pandemic.
