During the telephone call, the two ministers also discussed opportunities for the development of these relations, and the over regional situation.

Ahmed Hafez, spokesperson for Egypt’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said that Shoukry briefed his Ukrainian counterpart on the intensive Egyptian efforts made to achieve a ceasefire between the Palestinians and Israelis. He also highlighted Cairo’s keenness to stabilise the situation.

In this context, Shoukry stressed the importance of relaunching the path  of negotiations at the earliest opportunity, which requires intensified international efforts in this regard.

The two ministers noted that the absence of any real horizon for the peace process could lead to a continued renewed conflict between the two sides.
