Egypt participates in Cyprus’ Folk Dance Festival

Egypt’s Minister of Culture Inas Abdel Dayem nominated, on Monday, the National Folklore Band of the Artistic House for Folk and Performing Arts, to represent Egypt at the Folk Dance Festival.

The band, headed by Adel Abdo, will travel to the Cypriot city of Limassol in order to perform their shows from 4 to 9 October.

She also nominated the Port Said Folklore Troupe of the General Authority of the Cultural Palaces, headed by director Hisham Atwa, to participate in the opening activities of the new cultural season of the Egyptian Academy of Arts in Rome, and to continue the celebrations of choosing Port Said as the capital of Egyptian culture in 2021.

The troupe will hold its activities during the period from 20 to 25 October.

Abdel Dayem said that Egyptian culture and arts return to participating in international and regional events after a period of hiatus due to the spread of the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19).

He explained that folk arts are one of the components of the Egyptian cultural and civilization heritage that contribute significantly to promoting the homeland abroad, stressing that the international participation of artistic and creative teams is one of Bridges of communication between Egypt and various countries around the world.
