Al-Sisi follows up on water resource management projects in Egypt

President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi met on Saturday with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation Elsayed Elkosayer, and Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Hani Sewilam, to follow up on water resource management efforts nationwide.

The officials presented the water situation in Egypt with regard to Nile water and groundwater, and the water rationing scheme for land reclamation projects in the New Delta, East of Al-Owainat, Toshka, and West Delta, in addition to the preparations for the wheat planting season next month.

The President directed to continue the efforts to govern the use of the Nile water at the level of the Republic, especially through the dissemination of the modern irrigation system for agricultural lands, as an essential element in the state’s strategy to rationalize water consumption and raise the efficiency of its management, as well as a commitment to rational and safe consumption of groundwater to preserve this important water resource.

The meeting was also attended by Hisham Al Suwaifi, head of the Engineering Authority of the Armed Forces.
