The Administrative Court dismissed a lawsuit calling for suspending political satirist Bassem Youssef’s TV programme Al Bernameg on Saturday.
According to state-owned Al-Ahram, the court rejected the case, saying that the plaintiff did not have the right to request the programme be suspended.
Muslim Brotherhood lawyer Mahmoud Abul Enin who filed the case has also demanded that the CBC channel’s licence be revoked for airing “inappropriate content that is beyond acceptable criticism” of President Mohamed Morsi.
Abul Enin said he will appeal the court decision at the Administrative Court.
“I’m an Egyptian citizen who refuses to compromise the security of the country or to legalise abusing the symbol of the Egyptian people,” he added.
On his Twitter account, Youssef commented: “Court rejects the MB application to ban the program. Congratulations!”
