The Software Engineering Competence Center (SECC) of the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) will provide assessment services to two Chinese software companies, Guangzhou Zhongda Information Technology Co and Zhejiang Digital Man Information technology Limited Co., Ltd.

Acting Executive Director of ITIDA and Chairman of SECC Hossam Osman said the centre aims to expand and offer its services abroad, as part of its strategy to increase revenue through exporting assessment and evaluation services. He noted that this is one of the highest value-added services in the telecommunications and information technology sector.

Meanwhile, SECC has trained a number of workers in telecommunication companies, under the Control Objectives for Information and Related Technology (COBIT) framework. The centre is certified and qualified by APMG, which accredits training and consulting organisations and manages certification schemes for this framework.

Moreover, the centre also targets training experts on the TOGAF certification, which is applied in major international institutions to improve work efficiency, and through which foundations develop what is known as Enterprise Architecture. SECC is also certified by The Open Group as a training provider.

SECC was established in June, 2001 as part of the Ministry of Communications’ efforts to support the technology industry. The centre joined ITIDA in 2005 and became a strategic partner and member of numerous international institutions, such as the US Software Engineering Institute (SEI), CMMI of Carnegie Mellon University, and the British ODI, as well as APMG, The Open Group and ISTQB.
