CAIRO: Zamalek chairman Mamdouh Abbas revealed that his ambitions for the next period will focus on economic and financial growth.

Abbas was re-selected by the Egyptian Higher Council of Sports as Zamalek s president for the next year, replacing former chairman Mortada Mansour, who had his fair share of problems with the previous board.

The new chairman was ready with a set of goals and the plan.

Our main focus for the next period will be achieving economical growth, because success in sports heavily depends on funding, Abbas told FilGoal.com.

Lately, Zamalek has been plagued by poor funding. This has had a negative effect on the sports team, especially the football team that has not won anything in the last three years.

We will generate new projects in order to regain our financial strength and be able to compete. We hope that the club members could contribute as well, Abbas added.

The projects will include benefiting from official sponsors, TV rights and using a marketing approach.
