CAIRO: Petrojet were denied a legal goal on Tuesday as they were held to a goalless draw by Ittihad Alexandria in the Egyptian League.

Mohamed Koffi slammed the ball against the crossbar in the 37th minute and despite the fact that it fully crossed the line, referee Medhat Abdul-Aziz waved the play on.

Petrojet manager Mokhtar Mokhtar protested the decision and accused refereeing of causing “intentional damage to his side s campaign.

Referees make mistakes but when their errors are repeated, you have to raise questions, Mokhtar told the post-match press conference.

We had a clear goal disallowed today and another against Tersana (in the last league game).

When referees disallow goals like this, either they intend damage or have no idea about football.

Yet, Petrojet had the chance to snatch the three points one minute from time when they where awarded a penalty-kick, however, Hussein Ali thundered the ball against the post.

Petrojet now split the league summit with Al-Gaish on 13 points each while Ittihad have three points in the 13th spot.

In Cairo, Telecom Egypt grabbed their third successive victory after beating Enppi 1-0.

Naser Hassanein posted his third goal of the season in the 35th minute to fire the newcomers into seventh spot.
