The Egyptian Maintenance Company (EMC), which specialises in supplying oil, gas, and petrochemicals along with engineering solutions, has announced signing a contract with CONNECT Professional Services (CONNECT-PS), an Egyptian company specialised in smart solutions, in order to implement an infrastructure development project and equip the company’s data centre based on the solutions and technologies of Cisco International.
Cisco will be equipping the data centre with SDN, ACI, and HCI networks and solutions. They are considered the latest infrastructure technologies for physical and virtual information networks. These technologies change the way networks operate so that the greatest attention is given to the policies and results required from the network, not the orders that are implemented through each device separately. These solutions are considered to have an effective role in improving the speed and flexibility of network performance as they open up ways for creativity and non-traditional methods of operation.
General Manager and Managing Director of EMC Sami Wehbe said that the cooperation agreement comes in line with the digital transformation in the oil sector. It also provides new services, especially that EMC provides its services to the petroleum and industrial sectors. He pointed out that the new agreement aims to connect the main branches of the company, whether Southern, Eastern, or Northern, with the company’s international branch, as EMC is an Egyptian-Norwegian partnership.
He added that data and information security has become an urgent necessity for all the company’s customers. “This is why we cooperated with Cisco to provide us with its solutions and applications, as well as ways to secure and protect information, in cooperation with its golden partner, CONNECT Professional Services,” he said.
For his part, Mohamed Kamel, regional sales manager of Cisco Egypt, said that this cooperation comes within the framework of Cisco’s focus on the oil sector, which is one of the most important sectors that Cisco is interested in. Cisco cooperates with the Ministry of Petroleum and the General Petroleum Corporation, as well as private sector companies.
