Vice Minister of Finance for Appeal Committees and the Dispute Resolution Committees, Hesham El-Hamawy, called on taxpayers who have tax disputes with the Egyptian Tax Authority, to promptly submit requests to end the disagreement.
El-Hamawy said that the deadline for accepting tax dispute settlement requests will extend to 31 December.
He confirmed that Law No. 173/2020 provides for the extension of the law on ending tax disputes in the administrative stage until the end of this month, which helps in speeding up stability of legal situation of financiers and taxpayers.
He further elaborated that the competent committees examine during this period tax grievances and disputes in courts or tax appeal committees at the Egyptian Tax Authority.
The law gives taxpayers a new opportunity to agree with dispute termination committees, which receive along with tax offices in receiving taxpayers’ requests according to geographic scope set until the end of December, El-Hamawy disclosed.
Additionally, this law is consistent with directives of Ministry of Finance to strive to accelerate ending tax disputes without resorting to courts, in a manner that preserves the state’s right and contributes to building trust with taxpayers, given that they are development partners, which contributes to stimulating investment climate, he concluded.
