The Freedom and Justice Party (FJP) has called on Prime Minister Hesham Qandil to begin implementing the plan to develop the Sinai before the end of the year. The party emphasised the need to develop the Sinai in the wake of the latest terrorist attack on soldiers guarding the border with Israel.

Mohsen Radi, a member of the governing body of the FJP, said the party’s various committees and the Executive Office will begin monitoring the government’s implementation of the Sinai development plan which forms part of the Government’s “Renaissance Project.”

Radi said that the party was calling on the Government to attract foreign investment to the Sinai by creating exemptions and other incentives and offering attractive payment plans for land that is bought for investment purposes.

Abdel Hafiz El-Sawy, head of the FJP’s economic committee, said work had begun to distribute land in the Sinai to young graduates, with graduates to receive five acres each.

El-Sawy stressed the need to begin Sinai development with the Suez Canal region. He called on the government to establish an industrial, tourism, and logistical area in the region and that the plan would positively impact development in the entire Sinai Peninsula.
