Israeli and Palestinian delegations are expected to undertake a renewed round of “preliminary negotiations” in Cairo on Tuesday, the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.

Palestinian officials met in Cairo on Monday to prepare for the indirect talks and discuss the framework for reconciliation.

On 26 August, Israeli and Palestinian delegations reached a ceasefire agreement that ended 50 days of Israeli bombardment on the Gaza Strip.

The two sides agreed they would resume talks to discuss unresolved demands within a month.

This includes Palestinian demands for the reconstruction of an airport, the construction of a seaport, and the exchange of Palestinian prisoners for captured Israeli soldiers.

The Israeli attacks on Gaza began on 8 June and left at least 2,137 Palestinians in Gaza dead, including 577 children, according to the Gaza Ministry of Health. According to the United Nations 67 Israelis were killed, including three civilians and one child.
