President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi began a one-day visit to Sudan Monday to participate in a tripartite summit with Sudanese President Omar Al-Bashir and Ethiopian Prime Minister Haile Mariam Desalegn.

Al-Bashir called for the summit to discuss the relevant issues between the three countries. Top most on the list are the subjects of Nile waters and the Ethiopian Grand Renaissance Dam (GERD), state-owned news agency MENA reported.

Later on Monday, Al-Sisi will head to Ethiopia where he will give a speech in front of the Ethiopian parliament, according to state-owned newspaper Al-Ahram. During the speech, Al-Sisi will convey a message that emphasises the depth of the historical links between the two countries.
