ECCT to renew infrastructure network for first phase of fourth metro line

The Egyptian National Authority for Tunnels (NTA) assigned the Egyptian Company For Contracting & Trading (ECCT) to implement the infrastructure for the fourth metro line at a cost of EGP 38.6m, after it met the authority’s technical and financial requirements.

Based on the results of the tender that the authority announced online, the construction includes changing the routes of the underground infrastructure network for the first part of the first phase of the fourth metro line. This phase includes five stations, namely, El-Ashgar, El-Ahram, El-Nasr, Museum, and El-Rimayah.

The ECCT was also assigned with changing the infrastructure network for the second part of the first phase of the fourth metro line at a cost of EGP 38.5m for seven stations.

Meanwhile, the authority has chosen two companies to qualify for the next stage of implementation on the third phase of the third line, El-Thawra. The French Company Vinci passed the examination, scoring 94.4% while the Spanish OHL qualified with 88.05% score.

The Egyptian National Authority for Tunnels (NAT) is a government agency under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Transport, and was incorporated in 1983, for executing the Cairo metro project. The authority undertakes the relevant scientific and economic studies, in co-operation with foreign and local companies.

Since its establishment, NAT has successfully built the Metro Lines Networks (more than 83 KM), in addition to other relevant establishments and utilities. Investments for the project have reached EGP 23bn, at a rate of EGP 700m every year.
