19.8% increase in average worker wage in public business sector in 2015/2016: CAPMAS

The Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPAMS), issued their annual bulletin of statistics on finance and indicators of public business and public sector companies (except banks and insurance companies) for 2015/2016 on Wednesday.

According to the report, in the public business sector, the average annual wage per worker registered EGP 74,600 in 2015/2016, compared to EGP 62,300 in 2014/2015, marking an increase of 19.8%. Meanwhile, the total wages value reached EGP 46.6bn in 2015/2016, compared to EGP 38.8bn in 2014/2015, an increase of 20.2%.

Furthermore, the report indicates that the value of the projects under implementation reached EGP 32.8bn in 2015/2016 compared to EGP 26.2bn in 2014/2015, which marks an increase of 25.4% .This increase is as result of economic reform policies, structural reform, and increasing production capacity in this sector.

On the other hand, in regards to the public sector, the value of projects under implementation reached EGP 5.2bn in 2015/2016, compared to EGP 4.2bn in 2014/2015, an increase of 22.1%.  The provisions value increased by 12.2% to reach EGP 31.7bn in 2015/2016, compared to EGP 28.3bn in 2014/2015.

In regards to public sector wages, they also witnessed an increase by 11.8%, registering at EGP 17.8bn in 2015/2016, in comparison to EGP 15.9bn 2014/2015.
