EGP 44bn cost of projects implemented in Cairo during an entire year

Cairo governorate showed the highest percentage of projects executed in the field of construction, according to Central Agency for Public Mobilisation and Statistics (CAPMAS).

CAPMAS said that the projects executed in the capital amounted to EGP 44.8bn, out of a total of EGP 56.4bn, which is the value of construction projects executed by private sector companies in 2016.

In its latest annual publications on construction projects executed by private sector companies in 2016, CAPMAS noted that Giza governorate ranked second in terms of the value of projects executed by EGP 4.9bn.

CAPMAS added that Alexandria governorate ranked third with EGP 3.9bn as the total value of projects in the governorate’s construction work during 2016.

In the rest of Egypt’s governorates, the value of the construction projects implemented – including residential buildings, educational buildings, infrastructure, etc. –  reached about EGP 2.6bn, according to CAPMAS.

“The cost of construction projects implemented by the private sector amounted to EGP 56.4bn in 2016 compared to EGP 39.8bn in 2015, an increase of 41.7%,” CAPMAS clarified while “the value of implementing electricity grids and plants amounted to EGP 7.7bn.”
