18% increase in handled cargo at Damietta Port in March

A report issued by the Damietta Port Authority (DPA) showed that the number of docked ships at Damietta Port in March 2018 was rather steady compared to March 2017.

The number of ships at the port in March 2018 reached 230, and the number increased by 27% compared to the same period in 2017.

According to the report, the amount of handled cargo at the port increased by 18% in March 2018 compared to the same period in 2017. The cargo handled at the port in March reached 3.5m tonnes, compared to 3.03m tonnes in March 2017.

Dry bulk cargo increased by 38.5% in March 2018, while general cargo increased by 23%. On the other hand, the volume of container goods increased by 11.2%.

The DPA report that March showed an increase in the number of containers handled at the port from March 2017, with 99,300 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) handled in March of last year and 109,700 TEUs in March 2018.
